Temple Baptist Church offers craft classes every Wednesday morning. Fall classes begin September 29 and run for 4 weeks. Phone 542-1427 to see if there are openings left. At 9:30am on November 3, registration for the next four week session begins.There will be another session in January as well. Dates for January are not firm as yet.

Ewe are Special Wool Shoppe, 105 Mitton St., S offers classes in knitting, crocheting, machine knitting, two handed fair isle and hairpin lace. Each class is 2 hours in length and can be scheduled to suit the participants. Phone 337-1289 for information.

Roseann Fabrics, 172 5. Miffon St., offers classes running for about 1 month to learn the following- Christmas three dimensional figures, Christmas quilting projects, regular quilting projects e.g. Wall hangings, Wallets, Placemats, Quilts, wearable vests and jackets, as well as other classes. Heirloom Fabrics, 4137 Petrolia Line, Petrolia offers classes in making quilts, placemats, machine quilting, paper piecing, Christmas treeskirts, hand quilting and applique, serger techniques and more projects. Phone 882-1313 for additional information. These are the fall classes only. Get on the mailing list for sessions in the winter and spring.

Mary Maxim Needlework and Crafts, 2001 Holland Ave., Port Huron, Michigan - 810-987-2000 offers regular classes as well as demonstrations each weekend afternoon in October and November in the store. Classes include quilting, knitting, tatting, memory albums, teddy bear construction, dried floral arrangements, cross stitch, glass etching and more. Phone or drop in for more information... .and they have a new club 50 plus which offers twenty percent discounts on the first Tuesday of each month.

Bear Creek Studio in the Bayside Mall - 332-6914 and at 42111 Petrolia Line in Petrolia -882-1103 offers classes in watercolour (various options for floral, landscape of negative glazing), oil painting, acrylic painting, drawing, coloured pencil, mask making, figurative sculpture and others. Phone to register. Sessions are also held in the winter and spring.

The Sarnia-Lambton Artists' Fall Studio Tour will be held October 2 and 3. Pick up a brochure from a local gallery or store.

You could contact one of the following groups who are always looking for help -
Sarnia Minor Athletic Association - 332-1896 (afternoons) to coach a team of kids in any of 10 sports they offer, either St. Joseph's Health Centre - 464-4400 or Sarnia General Hospital - 464-4500 are always looking for a volunteer receptionist or someone to help out,
Rotary Childrens' Place -542-4571 to work with the special kids, a local elementary school or secondary school to hear kids read or whatever,
Imperial Oil Centre for the Performing Arts - 332-6591 to help with productions, paint sets, help with their ongoing renovations to the buildings or whatever and ...a little creative thinking will give you lots of other options.
